Since 1978, Brookes has published highly respected resources in early childhood, early intervention, inclusive and special education, literacy, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, communication and language, and mental health.

In 1993, we published the first commercial edition of the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System for Infants and Children (AEPS®) in collaboration with its team of developers at the University of Oregon, who by then had conducted almost 20 years of research on the system. We're proud to serve as the publisher of AEPS, now in its second edition, and work with its developers to provide training on AEPS to early childhood programs across the country.

In addition to AEPS, Brookes publishes 35–40 new titles every year ranging from graduate- and undergraduate-level textbooks, professional references, and practical handbooks to curricula, assessment tools, and family guidebooks and videos.
