FAQs
AEPSinteractive™ (AEPS™)

Question
What are the benefits of the electronic scoring features of AEPSi?
Answer
AEPSi is a secure web-based companion to AEPS that allows professionals to focus on children, not paperwork. Professionals can create customized print and electronic child observation forms for administering the AEPS Test. Once they record the observations in AEPSi, AEPSi automatically scores the test and generates all of the information and paperwork the professionals would otherwise have to create by hand:
  • score summaries
  • graphs of children's progress over time
  • lists of IEP/IFSP targets
  • the popular AEPS Child Progress Record
  • a present level of functioning report for use at IEP/IFSP meetings
AEPSi also allows professionals to conduct group assessments and enter AEPS Test scores and observations for multiple children at one time on one screen, saving substantial time on data entry and scoring.
Once the AEPS Tests are scored, AEPSi's powerful electronic reporting functions come into play. With a few clicks, professionals can
  • transform AEPS scores into an OSEP report
  • determine or corroborate children's eligibility for services
Child data can be easily exported for input into other data management systems.

Question
What are the technology requirements for using AEPSi?
Answer
No special technology is required. All you need to use AEPSi is a desktop or laptop computer (both PCs and Macs are okay), Internet access, and a free web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Question
Can I use AEPSi to conduct a group assessment?
Answer
Yes! Providers who wish to assess groups of children simultaneously may chose to assess up to six children across one developmental area at a time or, the most efficient assessment strategy, to assess them across all developmental areas using the new sets of assessment activities that are available in AEPSi. The assessment activities enable providers to observe all of the items on the AEPS Test with just seven or eight activities. The activities are semi-structured and embed easily in commonly occurring home and classroom activities, depending on the set you select.
Being able to assess several children across multiple areas of development saves time and allows teams to observe trends and patterns among children, as well as observe firsthand the interrelated nature of child development. AEPSi also enables providers to enter the assessment data for all of the children in the group on one screen and then automatically scores individual assessments for each included child—another time saver.
